Manufacturing & export
For years, Ganadeep has manufactured pashmina on behalf of established international fashion brands who put their own label on the finished piece. That work happens on the same handlooms, under the same roof, held to the same standard as everything sold under our own name.
Our story
Every Ganadeep shawl begins with fine undercoat fibre combed from Himalayan goats, then passes through the hands of spinners and weavers who learned the craft the way it has always been taught — from someone older, over years, not weeks.
The fibre is certified under Nepal's Chyangra Pashmina mark, introduced to distinguish genuine hand-made Himalayan pashmina from cheaper imitations sold under the same name. What travels to our partners in Europe is not a product line but a record of that process: the slight irregularities, the density of the weave, the weight of a fabric that was never meant to be made quickly.
From fibre to fabric
Scroll through the process a single shawl moves through before it ever reaches a shelf.
Undercoat fibre is combed by hand from the goat each spring, yielding only a few ounces per animal.
Fibres are sorted by fineness and colour before any spinning begins.
Spun on a traditional charkha into a single continuous thread, thin enough to pass through a ring.
Woven on a wooden handloom; a single shawl can take a skilled weaver several days.
Washed, pressed and, where requested, hand-embroidered before it leaves the workshop.
Natural dyeing
Colour is added after weaving, using dye traditions rooted in the region. Tap a shade to see it on the fabric.
